Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring is definitely in the air, and any realtor will tell you that is an excellent time to either put your home on the market. With a little bit of time and elbow grease, some spring cleaning can help put the shine back in your property.

Though the old saying might be “I don’t DO windows”, it’s amazing what a little effort will yield when it comes to sprucing up this important aspect of any home. A low-cost rubber edged squeegee and some warm soapy water will work wonders on those dusty panes. Use overlapping strokes when possible!

Most homeowners are consistent when it comes to dusting, but it’s also easy to forget about those out-of-the-way items. Have you dusted your…lightbulbs recently? Use a microfiber cloth lightly dampened with water (be sure to unscrew the bulb first!), and bask in the warm glow of a like-new radiance. Dust and gently wash off your window blinds too while you are at it. Light in a home makes a huge difference when showing!

The small investment of updating some basic bed linens such as pillowcases can make for a big return. You’ll be amazed at what a difference brand new linens in a bedroom can be. Steam clean the rugs too; many commercially-impressive units can be rented from large box stores cheaply. The result will be the difference in an eyesore to an selling point.

So don’t let the winter blues get you down! Start some basic cleaning now, and by the time spring is in full bloom hopefully so will the offers on your property!
